<p>Monkey Rows x 40 sec</p>
<p>Squat Jumps x 40 sec</p>
<p>Push Press x 40 sec</p>
<p>DB Step Up Left x 40 sec</p>
<p>DB Step Up Right x 40 sec</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This morning at our 5am bootcamp class I had several clients come up and request we host a fitness games / challenge &#8211; this has been a long requested concept by clients.  (<em>something outside the norm of our weight loss and calorie burn challenges</em>)</p>
<p>So after a few seconds thought, I decided to throw everyone &#8220;a bone&#8221;.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Today marks (DAY 1) of this weeks Fitness Challenge.  Every day I will post up a different fitness challenge for you to capture.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&#8230;.here is your <strong>Metabolic Fitness Games &#8211; Monday Evolution<br />
</strong></p>
<p>(this workout is a slight modification of an actual evolution we performed this morning at the 5am bootcamp)</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><em>Perform the following workout with minimal rest (and as always in excellent form!)</em></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Run 400 meters</p>
<p>Walking Lunges and Bear Crawl x 100 yards (<em>alternate bear crawl and walking lunges every 10 yards</em>)</p>
<p>Shoulder Press + Burpee Ladder (10,9, 8, 7, 6, 5)</p>
<ul>
<li>Shoulder Press 25% of your body weight</li>
<li>Ladder is performed as such:  10 Shoulder Press, 10 Burpees, 9 Shoulder Press, 9 Burpees, etc&#8230;down till you complete the &#8220;5 set reps&#8221;</li>
</ul>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Once done, mark your time so that you can go back at a later date, repeat the challenge, and see your improvement!</p>

<p>You can even buy it at the local Starbucks.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s the difference between Greek yogurt and plain yogurt:</p>
<p>Greek style has a lower sugar content and higher protein.</p>
<p>The texture of Greek style yogurt is creamier because it has been strained, and is more filling than regular yogurt.</p>
<p>Choose the Greek style or regular, whichever you prefer.  But remember, to choose a low-fat or non-fat version.  The full-fat options are too high in saturated fat.</p>
<p>Add in a handful of nuts or some fruit and you&#8217;ve got a great snack.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Woodlands and Pearland Personal Trainer, JC Guidry, says that understanding the concept of target heart rate can be a valuable part of your exercise program.</p>
<p>The most basic way to figure out what your heart rate should be during exercise is to take the number 220 and subtract your age.</p>
<p>(Let&#8217;s say you&#8217;re 40 years old.  220 &#8211; 40 = 180.)</p>
<p>This number is your <em>maximum</em> heart rate.</p>
<p>You should exercise anywhere from 60% to 80% of your maximum, depending on your goals.  (If you&#8217;re 40, 60% = 108 and 80% = 144.)</p>
<p>Knowing this number will help you increase your exercise level in a graded and careful way.</p>
<p>It will help you avoid injury, overexertion, and excessive stress.</p>
<p>How do you know what your heart rate is?  A heart rate monitor is your best bet.</p>
